About Me
My name is Jonas Betzendahl, online I often go by "LambdaTotoro" (also stylised as "λTotoro").

Profile photo of me, smiling. I hold a B.Sc. as well as a M.Sc. in Informatics from Bielefeld University and am finishing up my PhD at the KWARC research group at Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen, Germany in 2026.

I use any/all pronouns, so pick whatever you like. If you are unsure what that means, you can take a look here for some examples.
Science Communication
Communicating scientific concepts to an audience is a particular pleasure of mine that continues to give me great joy for over a decade now. In the past, I have designed and held university lectures and seminars and have spoken at several industry conferences. I have also contributed to a SciCom anthology published at Rowohlt-Polaris (link (German)), held all-day workshops and participated in upwards of 50 science slam events (see here for an example (German)).

If you have some science communication opportunities in and around Germany or online, please get in touch. I'd be happy to talk. Most of my work revolves around current and upcoming trends in tech, their interplay with society at large as well as their risks and benefits to the public, but I am happy to cater to other needs as well.
Programming
I enjoy programming both professionally as well as recreationally and I am glad that I had the opportunity to contribute the the open-source Jupyter ecosystem in the past.

Languages that I am proficient with are Python, Haskell, Scala and Prolog. I am interested in and learning more about Rust as well as the LISP and ML families.

For more, you can check out my CodeBerg and my GitHub profile.
Digital Art
One of my favourite recreational uses of programming is for digital art (as in "procedural generation", not as in "generative AI").

I hope to be able to showcase some of my work here, soon. :-)
